Young Innovation Leader of the Year 2014

Stockholm, 12 December 2014

The world is currently at the beginning of a new era in which people, companies and nations are challenged by the need to reinvent themselves. Intense competition, shorter product lifecycles and the continuing aftermath of a global economic crisis mean it is more essential than ever to constantly change in order to stay competitive. Against this backdrop, individuals who constantly push innovation and transformation to reach growth are in high demand. With the “Young Innovation Leader of the Year” award, a jury of Swedish experts and executives recognizes young individuals who show the potential to become such leaders. This year the prize was awarded to Shahin Zarrabi (23), who studies M.Sc. Management and Economics of Innovation at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg.

The jury, which consists of eight individuals with broad experience from both industry and academia, nominate four highly competent finalists. All finalists share the ability to link technology innovation with business innovation for the commercialization of new products and services or to transform business models. While among the finalists, Shahin Zarrabi convinced the jury with his outstanding performance, abilities and personal impact. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree and, in parallel, working as head of development at a start-up company providing a web-based e-learning platform that helps companies and universities to improve learning efficiency. The jury recognized “a strong entrepreneurial drive and a solid track record of commercialization” in Mr Zarrabi. He also has “leadership experience from both founding and managing companies in an industry with high technology intensity,” stated the jury in its argumentation.
