Yotaro has had a variety of business experiences in the Energy and Utility field, for 17 years in total. He has experience as a Partner in a Big 4 consulting firm, Local Head of Smart Grid Initiative at a global manufacturer, consultant at a global Strategy boutique firm, and a corporate strategist at an Electric Power Company. His focus is new business strategies, regulated business, operation analysis, sales and marketing strategies and R&D management.

Yotaro Akamine studied electrical engineering at Tokyo university, starting in 1989 and concluding with a PhD in electrical engineering in 1998, and a one-year researcher experience at the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific research center of Stanford University.
