Contact Jaap Kalkman
Bio: Jaap Kalkman is Global Practice Head of Arthur D. Little’s Energy & Utilities Practice located in Dubai. He has worked across the board on projects in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, focusing initially on utilities and later on oil & gas and petrochemicals. Jaap Kalkman studied Math and Physics in Utrecht, starting in 1983 and concluding with a PhD in Theoretical Physics in 1993.

Bio: Stephen Rogers is a Partner in Arthur D. Little’s London office, with considerable consulting and industry experience. His primary focus areas include upstream oil & gas companies worldwide, with experience including strategic guidance, portfolio optimization, techno-economic, commercial and contract review. Stephen Rogers also focuses on the implementation of operational performance improvements and advice on M&A delivery. He has worked extensively with utility companies, particularly in Europe, on a range of wholesale, retail and generation issues. Stephen is a graduate of Oxford University and INSEAD.
Contact Dean Brabec
Bio: Dean is a Managing Partner of Arthur D. Little in Central and Eastern Europe.
He is responsible for the business development in Eastern Europe and focuses on Energy and Utilities, Public Services and Travel and Transportation.
He has conside rable experience in management consulting, with projects on regulation, market liberalization, and organizational effectiveness, managing the profitability of groups of customers (calculations, segmentations, reporting), enhancing business efficiency, cost management, risk management and strategy creation.
Dean graduated from the Economics University in Prague, specializing in economics of industry. He is the President of the Chief Finance Officers’ Club (CFO Club) which has nearly 150 members from leading Czech and Slovak companies.
Contact Michael Kruse
Bio: Michael Kruse is a Partner and head of the Central European Energy & Utilities practice based in Frankfurt. He is associated with Arthur D. Little’s Operations Management and Chemicals Practices. His work focuses on strategy and project development of large-scale capital investment programs in the power sector, including conventional and renewable energies.
Michael also gained experience in the development of functional strategies and organization design within the chemicals sector. His most recent consulting work is focused on planning the decommissioning of nuclear power plants and economic and risk assessment of power plant lifetime extension programs. His work has included project risk assessment and the development of condition-driven program planning for plant engineering, procurement and construction projects. He holds an M.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Business Administration from the University of Muenster, Germany, specializing in Operations Management, and an Associate Degree in Banking.

Bio: Yotaro Akamine is a member of Arthur D. Little’s Energy & Utilities Practice located in Tokyo. Yotaro has a variety of business experiences in Energy and Utility field for 17 years in total. He has experiences as a Partner (Energy and infrastructure sector) at Big 4 consulting firm, Local Head of Smart Grid Initiative at a global manufacturer, consultant at a global Strategy boutique firm, and Electric Power Company as a corporate strategist. His focus is new business strategies, regulated business, operation analysis, sales and marketing strategies and R&D management. Yotaro Akamine studied electrical engineering at Tokyo university, starting in 1989 and concluding with a PhD in electrical engineering in 1998, and one year researcher experience at Shorenstein Asia-Pacific research center of Stanford University.

Bio: Kurt Baes is a Partner in Arthur D. Little's Brussels office and responsible for the Operations Management Practice in Benelux. He has over 17 years of consulting experience in Europe and Asia/China, mainly in the energy & utilities, manufacturing and chemicals industries. His area of expertise covers market strategy, organization diagnostic and redesign, change management, post-merger integration, risk and portfolio management, strategic sourcing and overall performance improvement. Kurt Baes holds an MSc degree from K.U. Leuven and an MBA from Cornel University (New York), and speaks Dutch, French, English and German.

Bio: Dr. Matthias von Bechtolsheim is a Partner in Arthur D. Little´s Frankfurt office and a member of our Energy and Utilities practice in Central Europe. In the past 20 years Matthias von Bechtolsheim gained his expertise working with clients in large and mid-sized utilities companies, as well as other service and manufacturing industries. The focus of his work is business and technology innovation, transformation and organization, and IT strategy. He graduated and completed his PhD in business administration at the University of Cologne.

Bio: David Borràs is a Partner of Arthur D. Little based in the Spanish office, where he leads the Energy & Utilities as well as the Industrial Sector practices. He has extensive experience in serving clients on the topics of strategy, regulation, capex management, corporate finance, risk management, organization, operations and innovation across different industries. David Borràs earned a Master of Science at Stanford University (USA) and engineering degrees at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain) and Ecole Centrale Paris (France).

Bio: Saverio Caldani is a Partner in Arthur D. Little Italy and Spain. He is a member of the Energy & Utilities Practice and affiliated with Strategy & Organization within Arthur D. Little. His primary focus areas are organizational improvement, strategic planning and advice on M&A delivery. Saverio Caldani has worked extensively with main Italian utilities such as Enel, Acea and Eni. He is a graduate of Università degli studi di Roma "La Sapienza".

Bio: Martijn Eikelenboom is a Partner in the Amsterdam office of Arthur D. Little. He combines a total of over 20 years of strategy consulting experience with five years of line management as CEO for a leading media publisher, distributor and retailer.
Ma rtijn Eikelenboom has been responsible for corporate and marketing strategy, as well as performance improvement assignments in the industrial goods, clean tech, energy/utilities, chemicals, professional services, media, food/beverage, waste, and packaging industries. His areas of expertise include transaction support, sustainability strategy, business model innovation, direct marketing and innovation management. He holds a BBA from Nyenrode University, Netherlands and an MBA from IESE, Barcelona, Spain, and is a graduate of AMP of Harvard Business School.

Bio: Rodolfo Guzman is a Partner in Arthur D. Little's Houston office, with much consulting experience in the global energy industry. His functional interests are focused on the areas of strategy development and organizational change. He has worked extensively with several NOCs and IOCs in Latin America. Rodolfo received his degree in Mechanical Engineering “summa cum laude” from Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Bio: Andrea Romboli is a Partner in Arthur D. Little´s Rome office. He has over 15 years' consulting experience in the utilities industry and Corporate Finance Practice. His primary focus areas lie in strategic planning, process improvement, organizational design, transaction advisory and business planning, mainly in the gas trading, distribution and retail sectors and in the water and waste management businesses. He holds an Economy degree from the University of Tor Vergata in Rome.

Bio: Ben Thuriaux-Aléman is located in our London office. He has over 16 years of consulting experience, with a primary focus on strategy, technology and innovation management, and due diligence. He has a particular focus on E&P energy projects. He holds an MBA (with distinction) from Rotterdam School of Management and Chicago GSB, an MSc in Science and Technology Policy from SPRU, and a BSc in Physics from the University of Manchester.

Bio: Nick White is the Managing Partner of Arthur D. Little's UK business, and is based in London. He has 35 years of experience in the oil & gas and electricity industries, during many of which he has served as a consultant. His primary focus areas are in the fields of upstream (fiscal terms) and strategic/commercial matters in the midstream gas and power sectors. He is active in the field of dispute resolution, and is a greatly sought-after expert for his knowledge of the European gas industry in particular. Nick White has a degree in economics.
