In preparation for the launch of a ground-breaking new drug, a global pharmaceutical company wanted to develop a strategy that would address the complexity of launching its drug in five major European countries.
Arthur D. Little deployed a team drawn from a number of European offices with specialised technical expertise in pharmaceutical launch planning, pricing and reimbursement, and financial modelling. Working closely with the client, the team assessed the various constraints in the major EU markets and identified potential opportunities. Arthur D. Little developed scenarios against which to test launch strategies and developed a model that simulated launch environment to identify likely outcomes of the strategic options.
While highlighting country-specific differences that could affect price and market entry, Arthur D. Little made specific recommendations on the basis of risk analysis and financial modelling. Accordingly, the client was able to increase the probability of a successful launch through a market-specific strategy, which aligned its sales and marketing organisation with its operations.
