A new report by Arthur D. Little outlines initiatives to overcome the acute resource shortages across the oil industry

A new report by Arthur D. Little explores the reasons why, despite the buoyancy of record pricing, growth in the oil industry is being constrained by a worrying skills shortage across the sector. The report recognises acute resource shortages as a key factor. Specifically, shortages in oil supply, refining capacity, and the talent, experience and capacity of service companies are constraining both international and national oil companies (IOCs and NOCs) in their efforts to meet rapidly growing demand for energy and chemicals. This shortfall has occurred despite a 20 per cent increase in investment by IOCs and NOCs during 2004-2007, spurred on by high oil prices. [...]

A mobile playground

New report from Arthur D. Little forecasts 60 per cent annual growth in mobile advertising over the next four years

As consumer demand for mobile broadband services reaches critical mass … Arthur D. Little predicts that in the coming years mobile advertising is poised to be the next major digital media platform for brands to reach customers, and that the key telecom players have a great deal to gain from bringing their services to market early, as forecast figures predict roughly 60 per cent annual growth in mobile advertising spend over the next four years. The report, "A Mobile Playground", published today by Arthur D. Little's TIME (Telecommunications, Information technology, Media and Electronics) practice, includes predictions about the size and content of the European mobile advertising industry, as well as offering both telecoms operators and advertisers insight into what is driving interest in mobile advertising, and how they can best navigate the often unchartered waters of advertising to consumers' via a handheld device. As consumer demand for mobile broadband services reaches critical mass telecom operators can expect that 50 per cent of the European population will access the internet through broadband on their mobile phones by 2012, according to the seventh annual research report, "In the eye of the telecom-media storm". Published today by Exane BNP Paribas and Arthur D. Little, the report is based on 71 interviews with managers from leading telecom and media companies in 12 countries in Europe and the USA. [...]

UK subsea oil and gas sector grows by almost 30 per cent

A new study carried out by Arthur D. Little and commissioned by industry body subsea UK has revealed that the subsea oil and gas sector has grown from £3.35 billion in 2006 to £4.3 billion in 2007.

For the third consecutive year Arthur D Little conducted the survey, which provides the only comprehensive review of the UK subsea oil and gas sector. It seeks to provide an accurate picture of the size and scale of the industry sector and its year-on-year performance. Some 800 companies, providing direct employment for around 30,000, are involved in the UK subsea sector. [...]

Arthur D. Little Limited UK appoints Mark Mulcahey as Managing Director and head of the UK TIME practice

International management consultancy firm Arthur D. Little (ADL) has appointed Mark Mulcahey to lead its UK firm located in London and Cambridge. An experienced telecoms and media consultant, Mulcahey will also take the helm as head of ADL's UK Telecommunications, Information Technology, Media & Electronics (TIME) Practice.
