My name is Enrique. I joined Arthur D. Little after studying International Business in France and Spain. I was born in Madrid, a place you should definitely visit!
I first interacted with Arthur D. Little as an intern during my last year in college, and got an offer to join as a Business Analyst after graduation. Since then, I have almost spent five years with the firm. What attracted me the most to Arthur D. Little was its reputation as a leading strategic consulting firm and the steep learning curve, as you get a lot of exposure to clients and the senior team from the start.
I am now a Consultant, which is the next career level after you join the company as Business Analyst. In this position, you play a central role in project execution. You support Business Analysts and contribute directly to the development of complex analysis to solve key business issues and, at the same time, you have a full view of the project scope and implications for the client.
When I joined Arthur D. Little, I was a little concerned about work-life balance, as I knew management consulting could be a demanding job. However, you learn quickly about how to optimize your organization and balance with personal priorities. Over the past years, I have spent a great deal of time in Latin America and the Middle East, across the telecom, energy, financial and media sectors. Working those international assignments, including the frequent long international flights, has never been an issue. On the contrary, I have found ways of combining business trips with leisure time, discovering new parts of the world.
Another way of enjoying the international life of the company is our training programs. The last one I attended was “Advanced Consulting Skills”. It took place in Athens, in a perfect location with a great view over the Parthenon. Both the content and the format of the training were insightful. It was also a fantastic opportunity to meet my teammates from other offices in the world.
If you want to start a career in strategy consulting, be at the core of major business changes and experience the international flavor of a global consulting firm, this is definitely the place to be! And the best thing is you can do so without putting aside your passions and interests: I travel around the world with my friends and family as much as I can, and I practice tennis intensely to improve my game and techniques. I also support different charities and invest my time in causes that are important to me, such as the conservation of wildlife. I am grateful to Arthur D. Little for granting me this freedom and flexibility.
