Since the Fukushima disaster in Japan, the impact on the development of new nuclear units has not been as dramatic as assumed.   Arthur D. Little found only 37 out of 570 planned units have been cancelled or delayed, with most projects still on track. Business schools such as Manchester Business School and Cambridge have been creating programmes for future nuclear scientists. Michael Kruse, Principal at Arthur D. Little Germany, estimates that Europe needs 74,000 nuclear personal by 2020. “For the plants to be completed successfully there needs to be a better balance of capabilities – from finance to project management” explains Mr Kruse.
